Verbe/Participle "shatif" ?

In response to your inquiry:

There must be a typo in the original Russian version -- it's 'sh_v_ativ' rather than 'shativ'.  'Shvatit' kishku' means to 'grab a hose' (to pour water and extinguish the fire).

    I am about to translate a short story for my Russian studies and couldn't find from which verb derives the form "схатив" in the following passage. Also, is  "схатив кишку" a set expression and how could it be translated?
    
    Контекст: 
    (Encoding Win1251)
    
    "Горит дом. [...] Пожарные качают воду. Один из них, схатив кишку, поливает дом."
