Russian textbook recommendation??

Since cost is an issue, have you looked into the Teach Yourself series, or
Colloquial Russian.  They're not very sophisticated, but they've got
useable dialogs, realia, cultural notes, reading texts, correct yourself
exercises, and supplemental tapes.  They can fit easily into a suitcase
for students who will be traveling, and they cost (with tapes) around $20.
