Tigers in Russia

Dear Seelangers,
        I have a student who wants to do a research project on tigers in
Russia; she's interested in cultural representations of tigers and also
scientific research on tigers.  Can any of you suggest literary works
(translated and not translated) in which tigers appear and also any
other research on tigers that you might be aware of?
