              "Dialogue of National Libraries: Russia - Great Britain"
                               2nd Bilateral Seminar

The British Library is pleased to issue this invitation to attend the above
seminar, to be held on 3rd and 4th December 2001 in the BL Conference
Centre, St Pancras, London.

The seminar aims to build on the success of the first NLR/BL joint seminar
which took place in St Petersburg in October 2000.

The programme will include:

DAY 1 - LIBRARIES
- Welcome by both Directors
- Tours of the St Pancras building
- Joint presentations on the new library buildings, their technical and
Reader Services infrastructure,
   and current digitisation and other automation projects
- evening reception

DAY 2 - COLLECTIONS:
- Sessions on planning research using the St Petersburg and London
collections (including SSEES)
- Resources for research in specific topics such as: women's studies/gender
studies; visual arts;
  Russian Civil War & White movement
- Presentations on specific NLR collections including the "Rossica" and
Imperial collections.
