Question on teaching of Orwell's _1984_ in Bulgaria

A student of mine writing a senior thesis on receptions of George Orwell's
_Nineteen Eighty-Four_ was told that the novel was taught in schools in
Bulgaria as a morality story about the evils of unrestrained capitalism.
If anyone can confirm this and provide a general time frame for when the
novel had been introduced into the curriculum, I would be grateful if you
would contact me off-list.
Thank you,
Jeanette
