Russia and Spain

[GP Gandolfo]

        I have always been interested in the similar role that Russia and Spain
have fulfilled in history: Spain got rid of the Arabs at about the same
time when Russia freed herself  from the Tatar yoke, both have been proud
of being the champion of true Faith and the bulwark of Europe (to the South
and to the East respectively), etc.
Do you know of any literature concerning that topic?  Thank you for any
information you will kindly provide
