Dat' tigalja

Reading a Zoshchenko's novel "Kakie u menja byli professiji" I've found a fraseologizm  - the meaning of it is clear - from the context,but if someone could explain this world - tigalja?

Ты,говорит,что,из наших рабочих?
Нет,я особенно не смутился.Думаю - успею дать  тигаля.Тем более - кругом народу нету и забор близко. 
 It's evident  from the context that he means - ubezhat',but I would like to know  something more.I've found only - dat' tjagu - pospeshno ubezhat',but I can't find nothing about - tigalja.
