A. A. Zhdanov's explanation of what it means to be an "engineer of
human souls" can be found in "Pervyj vsesojuznyj s"ezd sovetskix
pisatelej: stenograficheskij otchet" M. 1934. p,4 "Rech' sekretarjq
TsK BKP(bb) A. A. Zhdanova" in the parragraph that begins "Tovarishch
Stalin nazval nashix pisatelej enzhenerami chelovecheskix dush. Chto
eto znachit?..."
