A few summers ago when flooding was so bad, I remember seeing an article that referred to the point where the Moldau joins the Elbe in the Czech Republic.  Of course the Moldau never joins the Elbe in the Czech Republic; the Vltava joins the Labe instead.  But then the article was in English, and the names are Moldau and Elbe in English.  Do those opting for Kyiv advocate the adoption of "Ukraina" too?  I'm still working on purging myself of the damnable "the".
