Philologists! Linguists!
(if I may echo a salutation from a recent posting)

Does anybody know if there is any kind of parallel connection between
(a) "ring" (kol'tso) - "ring" (zvenet'/zvonit') - "ring" (zvon/zvonok)
on the one hand and
(b) "zveno" (odno iz kolets tsepi) - "zvenet'/zvonit'" - "zvon/zvonok"
on the other?

If so, could you please explain the historical connection in each case?

With thanks in advance,
