I don't see anything here that suggests a link to En "ring."

Approaching from the other side, Vasmer compares En "ring" (кольцо) to
Ru "круг" and "кряж," and En "ring" (звенеть) to Ru "крякать" (Sl кр-
corresponds to OE hr- and Modern En r- with loss of the initial h-):
