On podkidnoi durak: I am not sure that the game has an equivalent in the
English speaking world.  Here is a page that describes it in detail:
http://www.pagat.com/beating/durak.html.  I'm afraid, however, that this
will not help with your translation problem.  You might have to
substitute a game that is popular, simple, and familiar to all.  You
will, of course, lose the Russianness of the game if you do so, but if
you just call it "fool" or even "durak" the connotations will be lost on
the Anglophone reader.  Good luck.
