female executions in Russian literature

I don't know if this is along the lines of what she may be looking for,
but there is a twentieth-century novel about a nineteenth-century
real-life female execution - the hanging of the female narodovolets
Sof'ya Perovskaya.
It's very Soviet, of course, as it was written in 1970s. The author is
V. Dolgii, and it is called "Porog" (Threshold) - after one of
Turgenev's most famous 'verses in prose.'

There is another, earlier twentieth-century novelette, also about Sof'ya
Perovskaya's execution, written by Elena Segal, the wife and coauthor of
Samuil Marshak. It is called "Put' na eshafot" (1931).

Neither is translated into English, to the best of my knowledge, so
Emily Dickinson may require some help with reading it, though.

Subject: [SEELANGS] female executions in Russian literature

Dear all,
I've just received the enquiry below from a student called Emily
Dickinson (!) and wondered if anyone can suggest any texts she might
use:

I am currently studying for my MA in Modern and Contemporary
Literature at Loughborough University. As I am sure you are aware each
student to complete this programme has to undertake a dissertation on a
chosen topic. My idea is to consider fictional portrayals of real life
female executions in twentieth century literature. In particular I would
like to compare representations in American and Russian work. For the
former I intend to use work based on Ethel Rosenberg's death, such as
Robert Coover's The Public Burning and E.L. Doctrow's The Book of
Daniel,
but I am having real difficulty finding texts for the latter. As my
university does not specialise in Russian literature I was wondering if
may
you had any possible suggestions which could help me?
Many thanks for you time,
Emily Dickinson

All best,
Alex Harrington
