Not sure this is of interest, but last year another film adaptation of Viy came out, called Ved'ma, billed as the 'first Russian horror film,' set in America (!), directed by Oleg Fesenko and staring Valery Nikolaev and Evgeniya Kryukova. Also very schlocky.
