Devin,
Many know this film well, but I would not recommend it to high-schoolers
without a lot of historical background. I suggest the following:
1. Ballad of a Soldier or Ivan's Childhood 1959/1962
2. Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears or Autumn Marathon 1979/1980
3. Burnt by the Sun or Thief 1995/1996
Another approach would be the documentaries by Miroshnichenko 7-Up, etc.
