question about Akhmatova's Requiem

I use Judith Hemschemeyer's translation. I haven't had any problems with
students misunderstanding the spirit of the translation, but I do make a
point of telling students about various resonances that don't come out in
the translation.

I don't have it in front of me, but have a look at D. M. Thomas, the
Everyman edition of Akhmatova.  I think he often gets the spirit
where others fail.
