Not exactly, but this correspondence may be slightly helpful in 
preparing your translation:

Leontyev/Shcheglov's reminiscences of Chekhov, mentions the play:

I don't see anything in either place indicating that Chekhov might have 
written anything under this title, but others more erudite than I will 
certainly have the answer to that. I do see that Chekhov advised him on 
revisions.
