Platonov: I wrote this work for one man

Dear all,

There is a quote I need urgently and cannot track down.

Somewhere Platonov says something like ŒI wrote this work, in effect, for
one man.¹  He is talking, I think, of VPROK, though it might be KOTLOVAN.

Can anyone help me? I don¹t think I have dreamed this up!
