Dear Rachel,

Archived Time magazines (easily found online) have fantastic articles
about the US Fair in Moscow (1959) which showcased American products,
including Pepsi, and model kitchens to the Soviets.  I'm sure with minimal
effort you could find Russian coverage of the event.

Also, you might consider Shaknazarov's 2008 film _Vanished Empire_,
although it is a nostalgic and glorified rendering of the early 1970s.
