Query: vorotnik (not collar)

  Not sure of the English historical equivalent terms but vorotniki are 
defenders of the gates (vorota) of a fortress, and zatinshchiki are 
musketeers defending the interior of a fortress. See Dal', svv. vorota, 
zatin, soshka (under sokha).
