Mac OS 10.6 and Russian

I have 10.6.4 myself and have no issue with Russian in either Mail or
Safari. I've been using just the Russian language support that came with Mac
OS X; I haven't installed any drivers or Russian fonts. So just a guess, but
might it be the driver/fonts that you installed?
