I've meant to weigh in for a while on the Chandler/Meerson translation of
Kotlovan. I used it in my 20th-c. Russian lit class in the fall, and it is
truly a stunning achievement. It makes this novel teachable in translation
for the first time, in my opinion. I've never been so impressed by a
translation of a Russian novel. I highly recommend considering it for your
courses, or even if you just wish to contemplate a bold and brilliant
translation!

Cheers,
