Dear all,

Can anyone tell me anything about the history of this rather odd little
phrase?

I do, I think, understand WHAT it means: ŒEveryone gets criticized¹,
ŒEveryone gets give a hard time¹.

What I am asking about is HOW it has come to mean this.
