Nineteenth century quasi-equivalents

Dear All,

I apologize for the lateness of the response, but I thought that I might add Dostoevsky's enjoyment of Sir Walter Scott's novels and Ann Radcliffe's Gothic creations in his youth. For the sake of variety, you may also want to turn to English translations of French authors who influenced his language, e.g., Balzac, Hugo, or even Voltaire.

Sincerely,
E.A. Blake
