Лететь НА / В само лёте?

They are both used, so is letet' samoletom. Some will remember the 
oft-mocked advertisement "Экономьте время, летайте самолетами 
"Аэрофлота". Isn't it enough to have to fly without wondering what is 
the "right" way to describe the whole miserable experience? In most 
cases the samolet is redundant anyway - how else would you fly?
