быbefore or after verb

If you put the subject after the verb or remove it entirely (so it is just assumed), бы would have to come after the verb though, right?

I was taught to place it before the verb. Я бы хотела... I believe the
relevant examples are in Golosa Book 2.

PS: is there a second edition of Golosa book 2 out there? I knew there was a
second edition for the first one.
