Dear SEELANGS List Members,

A Russian colleague of mine asks for titles of English-language studies of Soviet literature (especially literature of the 1960s).

I don't do any scholarly work on literature from that particular period (and hardly teach it), so I'm afraid I'm not much help to her.

These are the only studies that came to mind, and they may well be outdated by now:
Deming Brown, Soviet Russian Literature Since Stalin
David Lowe, Russian Writing Since 1953: A Critical Survey
Geoffrey Hosking, Beyond Socialist Realism: Soviet Fiction Since Ivan Denisovich

Any suggestions you might have for useful studies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ron
