There are a couple of 'hawk' terms reconstructible in Proto-Siouan.  *kyetaN is
one of them.  The Dhegiha cognate set is from intermediate *kretaN.  I've left
off accent 'cause I can't remember off the top of my head where it is, but I
think it's on the 1st syllable, so it may have a long V.  This term seems to
have been a common medium sized raptor.
