In an (un)connected note, Uto-Aztecan Nahuatl has the borrowing "cahuayo" 
for "horse". However, in compounds, the stem for "deer" prevails, e.g.,
< mazacalli > 'it is a/the stable' from  < maza- > 'deer' and 
< -cal- > 'house'.
