In Osage there is the same usage of 'trunk' for 'thousand', for the same
reasons as expressed by others.

ëâàhkoke (variants: ëâàhkoe, ëâàhkoa). n box, coffer, trunk; HYPERLINK \l
"BM__msocom_1"[KL1] thousand.

Or if you can't read this font, here it is in NetSiouan:

zháNaNhkoke (variants: zháNaNhkoe, zháNaNhkoa).

I will, btw, be happy to provide anyone with the font I'm using, if you'll
just let me know.

Carolyn

Miami does this too: note mihtekolaakani "wooden box, trunk, thousand
(dollars)".

 HYPERLINK \l "BM__msoanchor_1"[KL1] Is this what you mean (that 'thousand'
is another definition)? {{CQ: Yes, another definition.}}
