Did any suggested gloss or translation come with the word. JOD did not
always supply a gloss.

Thanks Iren!

The cognate part seems to be a-gu-ki. The -na would have to be something
else. A diminutive in Dakota, an article in Hocank. Who knows? If it were
Hidatsa I wouldn't expect an /n/ in the middle of a word, but, again, who
knows?

Bob

Mark, Bob,

for what it's worth, I don't think that this is Hooca?k. I've never come
across a word like this, and I've checked the database too.

Mark, maybe you could send me some more examples of what is marked "H." in
the slip files? I might be able to help you more then.

Cheers,
Iren
