I just got off the phone with the conference hotel.  They've booked all the rooms in the block that was set aside for us, but the reservations clerk said "let me see if I can override."  It turned out that she was able to do that and get me the conference rate.  So if you haven't booked your room yet and wish to, you may have to ask them to "override" the limit.  There shouldn't be a problem though.
