Wiggle fingers

I have two questions regarding finger flexion or finger wiggling.

1.  Does anyone know of research about the movement of finger-wiggling
having
the meaning of 'time passing'?

2.  Has anyone read anything regarding flexing the index and middle
fingers
in signs such as RECEPTIVE (or PERCEIVE-by-ear/eye) signed near the eye(s)
and near the ear(s) as having the meaning of 'gathering in'?

    What about wiggling fingers, as in the sign COLLECT?
