I would like to alert you all to two forthcoming volumes on classifiers. One
is Karen Emmorey's volume form the conference on classifiers in 2000 (2001?),
from Lawrence Erlbaum Associates.

The other is the issue of Sign Language & Linguistics vol 3, no. 2 (John
Benjamins publisher) which contains 4 contributions on this topic. In it,
Dorothy Cogill-Koez offers a different way of looking at classifiers (first
paper), a new model (second paper), and a squib/comment on Allan's
interpretation of the classifier data he used for his paper on classifiers
(written by Dorothy on behalf of her and Elisabeth Engberg-Pedersen; fourth
title), and Lars Wallin notes how the dimensions of the referent determine the
choice of classifier in Swedish Sign Language:
Signed language classifier predicates: linguistic structures or schematic
visual representation?
A model of signed language 'classifier predicates' as templated visual
representation.
Two kinds of productive signs in Swedish Sign Language: Polysynthetic signs and
size and shape specifying signs
Do Athapaskan languages provide a precedent for signed language ©š lassifier
predicates k
