Dear Rannveig,

In Utrecht (Netherlands) we train teachers of sign language (since 1997) on a bachelor level (4 yrs) - we have just changed our curriculum for SL teaching (and thus also the didactic / professional part) based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language. This was first developed by Lorraine Leeson c.s. in Dublin, Ireland.

We have a curriculum in Dutch, which I perhaps could translate for you into English. Let me know if you are interested in this.

Good luck with setting up your program !

Best regards

Beppie

Onderwerp: University teachers of sign language - defining qualifications????

Dear all

At the University of Iceland we are redefining qualifications for teachers of sign language courses (on BA level). I was wondering if anyone had such definitons for other sign languages and could send me? Or if somebody is willing to discuss this on e-mail?

Our problem is that we don‘t have anyone qualified that has taken Sign Language as a subject (reasons: it is a young subject here + it is meant for hearing peopel with no knowledge of sign language). We are therefore wondering what kind of education wold be the best.

Best regards,
Rannveig
