Hi Nana, Valerie and listmembers,

well there is another sign (smile) – again a wrist movement symbol –

When we asked people for name signs of the country they come from we met
somebody from the Philippines.

She showed us a pretty different sign from what you included in your
SignPuddle .

I am curious – what kind of movement do you perform with your right hand, if
you sign the sign for the Philippines ?

Can you describe that – or is there somewhere a lifelike drawing ?

Is there any reason (Assoziation) for this sign ? (Eselsbrücke??)

Stefan ;-)

Hi Stefan and Val,

Wow, Stefan, I am impressed. You are very observant! You picked exactly my
weak spot :-)! Movements, especial the axial ones
I am still not very sure
about them. Actually when I fingerspelled “June” I did it without checking
my book (lazy me!). I did check the book now, and you are right Stefan, it
should be your June_4. The forearm is parallel to the floor. I am just
trying to change it in SignPuddle, but my connection is very weak right now,
so I am not sure I will be able to finish it. I am also changing the
orientation of the hand, because that is floor panel so should be with the
space. If you find any more weird things, please, let me know. I just tried
– with my “Lessons in SignWriting” book in hand – to do what I had written
earlier: I think I would need to break my hand in order to do the movement I
wrote :-)! Well, but this is how I learn more, so whenever you have time,
please, let me know my mistakes!

Nana

Hi Valerie and Nana,

I went to the PH Signpuddle –

one sign – source Valerie – caught my attention. It is June (
fingerspelling)

>From my point of view – this rotation of the baby finger is somehow
difficult to understand. Well I do not know the manual Alphabet of the
Phillipines – but would be interesting to have a safe basis to start from.

Attached you find my two spellings – ( at least my guess what the movement
may look like?)

So perhaps Nana you can start to offer photos or gifs of what the hand
shapes of the Phillipine manual alphabet look like.

What about the numbers from 1 to 10 – maybe 15 or 10, 20, 30

After we agree upon the idea what kind of hand shape (lifelike
representation ) you want to express with a SW symbol it is easier to start
with spelling questions. –

All the best for your work!

Stefan ;-)

For now until I get to work on it J - you can go to the Filipino SignPuddle.
There are six signs that Val worked on with me: start, Nana, June, Genesis,
earth and Philippines. My homework was to re-do school, which I posted
today. ...

The sign for school looks good, Nana!! Val ;-)
