Dear applied linguists working with Finnic or Finno-Ugric languages,

The series Lähivertailuja (“Close Comparisons”), previously published within
various Finnish and Estonian publication series, is now a yearbook published
by the Estonian Association for Applied Linguistics (Eesti
Rakenduslingvistika Ühing), with the bilingual title Lähivõrdlusi /
Lähivertailuja. The yearbook has an international editorial board and the
articles are peer-reviewed. The editor-in-chief of the series is Annekatrin
Kaivapalu (University of Tallinn), and each volume also has its own editors.

We welcome papers from the following areas:

– Estonian-Finnish contrastive language studies
– other contrastive studies involving Estonian or Finnish
– studying/teaching Estonian and/or Finnish as a related language
– other investigations of language acquisition or language learning,
involving Estonian, Finnish or some other Finno-Ugric target language.

Articles can be published in Estonian, Finnish, or English, and they must be
accompanied by an abstract in English (if the article is written in Estonian
or Finnish) or in Estonian or Finnish (if the article is in English). (The
editorial board will help with the translation of the summary from English,
if needed!)

For the 21st volume of Lähivõrdlusi – Lähivertailuja, edited by Annekatrin
Kaivapalu, Pirkko Muikku-Werner and Johanna Laakso, articles should be
submitted by March 1, 2011, to the address annekatrin.kaivapalu at tlu.ee.

The forthcoming 20th volume of Lähivõrdlusi – Lähivertailuja includes the
following articles:

Pille Eslon, Katre Õim, Annekatrin Kaivapalu, Reili Argus, Erika Matsak:
