Hi Maggie,
I may not be able to provide references to any scholarly works on Siddis but
I can say this much. Gujarat, India has a Siddi community in Junagadh
District adjacent to Pakistan and a few of them are in Ahmedabad city and in
Bharuch District of South Gujarat. One of the monuments of Ahmedabad is
some intricately carved stone windows named after Sidi Saiyad.
In case you are interested in doing some work on this community, Gujarat
could be one of the locations. However, this would be a rather small
community.
I'll definitely keep checking and if I come across some study, I'll draw
your attention to the same.
Francis.
