Marathi Feb 2007 ---- Monthly sample poem
part & prose in Roman script, see M12 M11
  E15 E14, E04 E03 in (www.mngogate.com).
  ------
Devanagari has merits, but is unavailable at
times. Linear (a -z) Roman script well suits
  dictionaries, phone-books, search-engines,
typing, etc. Many use it loosely for Marathi
e-mails. Symbols (on English facilities) are
used here, taking note of English spellings.
Adjust script for other languages. Circulate.
  Editor (India) (mngogate1932 at yahoo.com).
  ------
Hints. ( ' ) varies sound. Arrow = baan' (not
baaN). Usually no capitals. 3 dots between
sentences. Lot of English words in Marathi
with Devanagari symbols to fit sounds, like
  (nyu)(mo)(ni)(aa) = Pneumonia. Capitals to
start names & English words (Bell, Police)
etc. till recast as (bel, polis) etc. in Roman
Marathi. Write sarkaar, sattya = sat + tya,
etc as spoken, not (Devanagari) sarakaara,
  satya. English (th-they, d-do, u-up, a-art) =
  Mar (d, d', a, aa). (t d n l soft, t' d' n' l' hard)
(chy, jy, jhy = ch, j, jh) differ from (ch', j', z).
  Uniform vowels u =oo i = ee hindi = hindee.
