Knowledge Workers

A story headline at http://www.theatlantic.com/cgi-bin/o/issues/9
9oct/9910drucker.htm claims that Peter Drucker coined the term
"knowledge workers" for the Information Age.

Skeptical, I did a Nexis search and came up with this abstract
from "Information Bank Abstracts
Wall Street Journal, Nov. 7, 1975.

"P F Drucker finds 'knowledge workers,' such as accountants, soc
workers and teachers, are largest growing group, in indus, with
mgrs fastest growing sec in group. Finds these well paid workers
are most subject to job dissatisfaction and 'alienation' (M)."

What's interesting is that his original definition outlined in
the abstract above does not necessarily bear a lot of relationship
to the way he uses the term now, and certainly not with how he
uses the term in the Atlantic article.
