Charles Earle Funk and phrase origins

Both he and his son seem to be well represented in the libraries here, but
for some reason only Senior's books (Hog on Ice (1948); Heavens to Betsy
(1955)) are in the main library.  The more recent ones in the same vein by
CEF, Jr. (Thereby Hangs a Tale (1985), Horse Feathers (1986)) are in the
Divinity Library only.  Evidently CEF, Sr. is the Funk (or A Funk) of Funk
& Wagnall's.  (Wonder if Jr.'s post-Laugh In-era phrase origin books
include "Put that in your Funk & Wagnall's".)
