Holodeck

I got to thinking about the term "holodeck," from the Star Trek TV
series.

 It is obviously derived from

hologram + deck
holograph + deck

"holo-" means "thoroughly, whole, entire" while
-gram and -graph is "something written or drawn."

A holograph or hologram is a 3-dimensional image. (A holograph is also
something written by one person, but that's another story.)

Ought the holodeck be called the graphodeck?

Actually, the objects on the holodeck are not quite images, and as I
understand it, they're not quite objects, so perhaps an entirely
different term would be appropriate.
Any suggestions?
