THINKING DAY

     Today's WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6 July 2000, pg. B1, col. 2:

_Memo to Staff: Stop Working_
_Companies Push Employees_
_To Unplug From Office;_
_Taking a 'Thinking Day'_
(...) Approaches range from organized brainstorming sessions, such as a
weekly "Thinking Day" at a _Southwest Airlines_ unit, to tought restrictions
on weekend and vacation toil.

Companies now allow you A WHOLE DAY A WEEK to think?

ONE FLEW OVER THE EAGLE'S/CUCKOO'S NEST

I did a check on the Making of America database (Michigan one, I think)
for "one flew east and one flew west" and came up with "one flew over the
eagle's nest" in 1876.
So the cuckoo was an eagle!
    These rhymes change a bit.

WORD DETECTIVE

I wrote to the editor of New York Press (MUG1988 at aol.com) and told him
that the "Word Detective" should be in his newspaper--right next to the
"Straight Dope" and, uh, the Asian whore ads.
That should lure Evan Morris back.
