Query: Opry

Please reply to the questioner, not to me.



I have been searching for sometime now about the origin of the word "opry" and I
believe that it actually began in the early 1800's. I am having trouble finding this in
writing. I have been told by many people that this was a term used in the Appalachian
mountains. would you please give me any information that you have available on this
word.
