Or talk to an expert on the French Canadian refugees now known as Cajuns, or
Acadians. The University of Southwestern Louisiana might be a good place to
look. In particular, you could begin with Glenn Conrad, a historian of
Acadiana, the region of Louisiana where many descendants of the French
Canadian settlers still live.
