Hot Dog in French

Bapopik notes rightly that in France you should not ask for a "chien chaud" if you want a, but you should not say - as he recommends - "Donnez-moi, s'il vous plaît, des saucisses viennoises" either, because the waiter would certainly be rather puzzled. 
The correct French word for Hot Dog is "hot-dog"! 
And "Le Petit Robert" says: "HOT-DOG n. m. - 1929 (...) Saucisse de Francfort, servie chaude dans un petit pain. Des hot-dogs."
