In case anybody's interested, we now have a 1945 quotation in our
files illustrating "pissant":

He was particularly stirred up over the support given by Stettinius
to the plan to include Argentina in the United Nations.  He placed
the blame on Nelson Rockefeller, former coordinator of inter-
American affairs and now assistant secretary of state, whom he
called a "little pissant."
