Colleagues,

Matt Bruccoli, an American lit specialist at the University of South
Carolina, is seeking the sense of 'gardenia girl' in the 1920's.
Although it may be a oncer of Fitzgerald's, perhaps not. Can anyone
give him a hand? Please reply to him at the address given below.

Many thanks,

dInIs

F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the term "gardenia girl" in "Bernice Bobs
Her Hair." Can you tell me what it referred to in 1920? A young
woman who received many gardenias from admirers?
Cordially,
Matthew J. Bruccoli
Jefferies Professor of English
