Concerning pop/soda:

Where (geographically) does 'coke' as the generic name enter the picture?

I know Texans sometimes use it, but my 6 year old nephew in Cape Girardeau, 
MO uses 'coke'.  

He didn't pick this up from ANYONE in the family, so it made me wonder where 
the line is and why he has it.
