Here's an interesting item I've come across: "mocha and java" =get
along with; supposedly from grocer's lingo; could it be because the
grocer had his mocha and java next to each other on the shelf?

The quote is from the _San Francisco Bulletin_, May 7, 1913, p.16,
col. 4; article title: "Mr. Rowody Elliott Kids Runs Over Plate For
Hogan." The article reports: Hap Hogan sent two catchers last year
into the big tent leagues, and both appear to have made good. After
losing Agnew by draft to the St .Louis Browns, Hogan made a deal
whereby Brown, his other trusty receiver, went to the Boston
Nationals. Hogan wanted to hold Agnew and let Brown go, as the
latter was harder to manage. For some reason Hogan and Brown didn't
mocha and java, as they say in the grocery business. They were at
swords' points, and Hogan thought it best to dispose of Brown, who
was a first-class backstop, nevertheless."
